Our History

Troop 266 was founded in 1966 by the Good Shepard Lutheran Church. The Troop was very active during the period of 1966 to 1975, and then it went into a down period. For awhile the Troop met at the Elk’s Lodge in Olympia. In 1985 the Troop returned to the
Church. In 1992, there were only 3 scouts in the Troop (very, very small) and was in danger of disbanding. In 1993 it started to build up again and by 2004, it had risen to over 100 scouts.

Hello and greetings from Olympia Troop 266!

We are a large and active Troop based in the Olympia area.  Our Scouts come from all around - from Yelm, the Black Hills, Tumwater, Olympia, Lacey and Shelton.

We meet weekly all year around and encourage anyone looking into Scouting to drop in to any of our meetings, introduce yourself and take a tour.  We meet every Tuesday at 7pm at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Our Scouts attend High Adventure camps, Summer Camps, local and regional Pacific Crest Trail hikes as well as traditional camping and outdoor activities.

We strive to the goal of World Class Scouting and our motto is that Every Scout Absolutely Matters.
